Mummy Twinkie Pops

What do you think of Twinkies?  I think people either love them or hate them.  I love them.  I’m not sure why.  If I think about it too long I start to question my love of spongy yellow cake and frosting. So I don’t think about it for too long =o)  For awhile, years ago, they made chocolate covered twinkies.  They were awesome.  Choco-diles I think they were called.  But then they disappeared like so many awesome things (Can you say Space Sticks?  Awesome.  Now gone.)

These aren’t exactly Choco-diles (since they are made with white chocolate) but holy smokes.  Let’s review this, shall we?  White chocolate.  Twinkies.  Whoo hoo!
I found this super cute idea on the blog Confessions of a Cookbook Queen.  LOVE that site!  Kristan has so many amazing recipes!
Mummy Twinkie Pops
* Twinkies
* White chocolate (I use Guittard because it’s the best) =o)
* candy eyes
* sticks
I’ve decided I love these candy eyes!

Pretty simple so far, right?
Melt a little bit of the white chocolate in the microwave and cover about 1/3 of the stick with it.  Insert the stick into the Twinkie and place on a cookie sheet lined with waxed paper.

Freeze for about 15 minutes to set the chocolate.
Dip each Twinkie into the white chocolate.  Make sure the entire Twinkie is covered.  Place back onto cookie sheet and freeze for about 15 minutes.
To make the mummy stripes, I put more of the white chocolate in a small baggy and melted.  Snip off the corner of the baggie and make lines across the Twinkies.  Add candy eyes and viola!  Mummy Twinkie Pops.

Super cute, right?
You can place them in small, individual plastic bags to give as gifts.  Who wouldn’t love a Mummy Twinkie Pop?!
